BIOGRAPHY
South of France born Boston-based artist Francis Domec studied Art in Massachusetts and earned a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and a master’s degree in Museum Administration while pursuing his interest in studio art.
He is a versatile abstract painter who works in a range of media including acrylic, ink, printmaking, oil and collage. He also works in Ceramics.
His current work explores his interest for nature particularly his observation of how nature grows and multiplies through its ecological cycles. In his artist’s statement Francis states: “Each composition is a vessel that encapsulates and shelters life in hibernation: honeycomb chambers, tree barks, sheaths of plants and seeds are elements that I am inspired by.”

His work has been exhibited in Boston, New York, Las Vegas and Miami and regionally in group shows and juried competitions. His work has been selected by the De Cordova Museum of Contemporary Art in Lincoln, Massachusetts to represent the museum’s Corporate Art Loan Program for 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. He is also commercially represented by Galatea Gallery, a contemporary cooperative gallery in Boston’s South End/Thayer Street gallery district in Massachusetts.

Francis has been a recipient of several national and international juried competitions: The Institute of Contemporary Arts in Boston; MPG Gallery, Boston; Agni Gallery, New York City; The Foundation of the Arts and Sciences of Long Beach Island curated by Starr Figura, assistant curator of prints at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City; London International Creative Competition; Northeast Prize Show, juried by William Stover, curator of Contemporary Art, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA; The Armory Art Center Show "Edge" juried by Bonnie Clearwater, Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Miami, West Palm Beach, FL; ArtExpo Las Vegas 2008, a juried selection from The Hun Gallery, Las Vegas, NV; and the 14th Annual International Exhibition, juried by Chakaia Booker, New York City, NY. (see complete resume).

He also won several competitions: MPG Contemporary, New Art 2007: A National Competition for Emerging Artists, honorable mention in mixed media; Best of Show in Ceramics, Art in The Pews: Arts and Crafts juried exhibit, Cambridge, MA; two honorable mentions in mixed media from Newburyport Art Association, Newburyport, Massachusetts.

Francis is a juried member of the Cambridge Art Association in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His work is in numerous private collections in Argentine, France and throughout the U.S. and in corporate collections in Boston, Massachusetts.
